Doug Hitchner begins his first year of coaching, after a four-year baseball career at Hopkins. Hitchner will work primarily with the catchers, as he served as the team's starting catcher for four consecutive season.
Hitchner finished his career at JHU with a .292 average, five home runs and 46 runs batted in. In 2002, his sophomore season, he was a Second Team All-Centennial selection after hitting .364 with two home runs and 21 runs batted in, while making no errors. Hitchner has a career fielding percentage of .992, making only five errors. He was touted as an outstanding blocker and reciever during his career.
